The aim of the Swiss Microfinance Platform (SMP) is to contribute, in Switzerland and worldwide, to promoting microfinance by providing a forum for microfinance practitioners to meet, inform themselves, debate and cooperate on institutional development, market growth and policy options.

In this framework the SMP has the following roles:

• monitor the Swiss-related microfinance market

• connect all actors interested in microfinance issues, particularly professional practitioners

• exchange information and expertise

• develop knowledge and skills in the field of microfinance

• define norms and standards in the promotion of microfinance

• defining regulations on ethical codes and on common policies

• Study and research

• raising awareness, networking and organizing monthly microfinance workshops and events

• promote Swiss microfinance
