Often worldwide microfinance NGO programmes were the foundation base of MFIs, they usually target small MFIs providing a proportion of their resources for loans, share capital investments, subsidies and technical assistance. In Switzerland examples include World Vision Switzerland with its Vision Fund, providing its network of MFIs with capital, donations, technical assistance and advocacy. World Vision mainly focuses in Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean and Eastern Europe and Central Asia. Terre des Hommes makes loans and grants to MFIs, and technical assistance in Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean and South and East Asia and the Pacific. The Vietnamese Heritage Institute (VHI) provides mainly loans and technical assistance services in South and East Asia and the Pacific. Caritas Geneva provides capital donations in Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean. Helvetas provides guarantees and technical assistance in the same regions coupled with Eastern Europe and Central Asia, South and East Asia and the Pacific while Swisscontact provides a whole array of technical assistance services in Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean and South, East Asia and the Pacific regions.
